Cookie Policy

Last Updated: October 5, 2025

This Cookie Policy explains how David Stern Jewelers and our affiliated sites use cookies and similar technologies to enhance your shopping experience while respecting your privacy. We believe in being transparent about our data collection practices and in giving you control over your information. This Cookie Policy should be read together with our Privacy Policy, and both sit alongside our other policies in the Legal Hub.

Introduction

At David Stern Jewelers and our affiliated sites, we are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring a secure browsing experience. This Cookie Policy outlines what cookies and similar technologies are, why we use them, and how you can manage cookie preferences at any time.

Please note that this Cookie Policy applies only to our own websites and services — not to websites hosted by our customers or to tracking code implemented by others. Our customers are responsible for managing cookies on their own sites and must comply with all applicable privacy regulations and laws.

Our Use of Cookies

We maintain a minimalist approach to data collection, using cookies primarily for essential shopping functions and limited marketing purposes. Our cookie usage falls into two main categories: shopping cart cookies that keep your basket, and advertising-related cookies.

Functionality cookies are also used to improve your experience by remembering preferences, maintaining sessions, and enabling core features of the website, such as saved language choices and display settings. You can manage cookie preferences at any time to suit your privacy needs.

Shopping Cart Cookies

To enhance your shopping experience, we store shopping cart data using cookies for a period of 30 days. These cookies remember the items in your cart along with choices such as language or display preferences, so you can return to our website and find your selected items still waiting for you. This data is stored locally on your device and can be cleared at any time through your browser settings.

Advertising and Remarketing Cookies

We use cookies from Facebook and Google for advertising purposes. These cookies let us measure the impact of our ads, optimize campaigns, and show you relevant jewelry advertisements and special offers when you visit other websites, based on signals such as browsing behavior and search history. They also enable measurement of ad performance and customer actions, and the collection of analytics data that helps us improve advertising effectiveness.

We reserve the right to remarket to you for up to 30 days after your visit to DavidSternJewelers.com and our affiliated sites. This helps us show you products you have expressed interest in and share promotions relevant to your jewelry search.

Similar Technologies We Use

In addition to cookies, we use a range of similar technologies to collect data and support the functionality of our website. These include clear GIFs (also known as web beacons, web bugs, or tracking pixels), which help us track interactions, measure the effectiveness of our communications, and monitor the health of our network. For example, clear GIFs in our HTML emails allow us to see when an email has been opened.

We also use unique identifiers for apps or devices, pixel tags, and local storage. These serve purposes similar to cookies — supporting advertising, enhancing website function, and helping our website operate smoothly and securely.

Third-Party Cookies

Our website uses both first-party and third-party cookies. Third-party cookies are set by external providers and enable features such as advertising, interactive content, and analytics. They can recognize your computer or mobile device across different websites, helping us and our partners deliver relevant ads, measure performance, and provide enhanced content. Examples include cookies from social media platforms for sharing content, advertising networks for serving targeted ads, and analytics services for tracking website usage.

We select third-party providers carefully and work with them so that their cookies are set in compliance with this Cookie Policy and all applicable laws.

You have complete control over the cookies stored on your device. If you wish to remove shopping cart data or prevent remarketing, you can clear your cookies through your web browser. You can also reject cookies by adjusting your browser settings or by using the cookie banner, which lets you decline cookies and limit data collection. Here is how to clear cookies in the most common browsers. Each vendor also publishes its own current instructions: Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Microsoft Edge.

Google Chrome

Settings › Privacy and Security › Clear browsing data › select “Cookies and other site data” › choose a time range › Clear data

Safari

Preferences › Privacy › Manage Website Data › Remove All

Firefox

Options › Privacy & Security › Clear Data › select “Cookies and Site Data” › Clear

Microsoft Edge

Settings › Privacy & Security › Clear browsing data › select “Cookies and other site data” › Clear now

When you first visit our website, you will see a cookie consent banner that allows you to accept, reject, or manage your cookie preferences. For visitors outside the European Union, all cookies will be set unless you choose to decline or manage your preferences. You can update your choices at any time by clicking the “Manage Cookies” link in the footer of our website.

Please note that rejecting cookies may limit your access to certain website features. Your cookie choices are specific to the browser and device you use; if you clear your cookies, you will need to set your preferences again.

All of our cookies have a maximum lifespan of 30 days, after which they automatically expire. Shopping cart data and remarketing permissions are cleared at that time unless you have visited our website again, which may reset the cookie duration.

Google Tag Manager

We use Google Tag Manager to manage the tags on our website — including those for analytics, advertising, and remarketing — without editing code directly. It lets us deploy and update tags quickly, with preview and debug tools that help confirm our tags work correctly and securely. Google Tag Manager integrates with both Google and third-party tags, supporting Google Ads conversion tracking, basic remarketing, and dynamic remarketing, and helps us manage data collection responsibly.

Your Privacy Rights

We respect your right to privacy and your control over your data. If you choose to clear your cookies, please note that doing so will remove your shopping cart items and stop any remarketing activity. Cookies also help protect your account by verifying your identity and preventing unauthorized access, so clearing them may require you to sign in again. Cookies and similar technologies additionally help secure the forms on our website, preventing spam, fraud, and abuse.

You can still browse our website and make purchases normally after clearing cookies — you will simply need to add items to your cart again.

It helps to know which kind of cookie is doing what. Strictly necessary cookies make the website function at all: they keep you signed in, remember what is in your basket and protect forms against spam and abuse. Nothing described in this Cookie Policy allows you to switch these off and still check out, because without them the site cannot complete a transaction.

Functional cookies remember choices you have made, such as display settings and language. Analytics or performance cookies tell us in aggregate which pages are read and where people give up, which is how the site gets improved. Advertising and remarketing cookies are the ones that follow you to other websites, and they are the category most people actually want to control.

The shopping cart cookies described above fall into the strictly necessary and functional groups. The remarketing cookies described above are advertising cookies. If you decline advertising cookies, the shopping cart cookies still work, so declining does not empty your basket.

Opting out of interest-based advertising

Clearing cookies removes what is already stored; opting out tells advertising networks not to build a profile in the first place. The two are different and it is worth doing both. Industry opt-out tools cover many networks at once: the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out and the Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out both let you switch off interest-based advertising across a long list of participating companies.

You can also go to the source. Google My Ad Center controls how Google personalizes the ads you see, Facebook ad preferences does the same for Meta, and the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on stops Google Analytics measuring your visits on any website.

These opt-outs are themselves stored as cookies, so clearing your cookies will clear the opt-out too and you will need to set it again. That is a quirk of how the mechanism works rather than anything specific to this Cookie Policy. For neutral background on how all of this operates, AllAboutCookies.org is a good plain-English reference.

Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

Most browsers include a Do Not Track setting, which sends a request that you not be tracked across websites. There is no agreed industry standard for how a site must answer that request, and many sites ignore it entirely, so it should not be relied on as your only protection.

Global Privacy Control is the newer and more useful signal. It is a browser or extension setting that transmits a legally recognized opt-out request, and in several jurisdictions businesses are required to honor it as a request to stop selling or sharing personal information. Where the law requires us to honor that signal, we do.

Because both signals are stored in or sent by your browser, they apply to the browser and device you set them on — not to you as a person. Setting them on a laptop does nothing for your phone.

What happens if you decline cookies

You can use this website with advertising cookies switched off and nothing important breaks. You can browse, read, search, look at products and contact us exactly as before. What changes is that we can no longer measure which advertising brought you here, and you may see the same generic advertisements elsewhere rather than ones related to what you looked at.

Declining or clearing strictly necessary cookies has a more visible effect: your basket empties, any saved preferences reset, and if you were signed in you will be signed out. That is not a penalty, it is simply what those cookies were holding.

Your choices are specific to the browser and device you make them on. If you use Safari on a phone and Chrome on a desktop, you will need to manage cookie preferences separately in each.

Cookies on mobile devices and in our emails

Mobile browsers store cookies in the same way desktop browsers do, and the instructions further down this page work on both. Mobile operating systems add their own controls on top: both iOS and Android provide a device-level advertising identifier that you can reset or limit in your privacy settings, which affects advertising across apps rather than just in the browser.

Our emails use clear GIFs, sometimes called tracking pixels, which tell us whether a message was opened. Blocking remote images in your email client prevents those pixels from loading and is the simplest way to stop that measurement. Most email clients offer this in their privacy or display settings.

None of these email or device signals are used to identify you personally to anyone outside our own systems, and they are covered by the same commitments set out in this Cookie Policy and our Privacy Policy.

Where cookie data is stored and how long it lasts

Cookies are small text files written by your browser and stored on your own device, not on our servers. We can ask your browser to set and read them, but the file itself lives with you, which is why clearing your browser data removes them completely and immediately.

Local storage works similarly but is not automatically sent back with every request, and it persists until it is cleared. Where this website uses local storage it is for the same purposes described in this Cookie Policy: remembering preferences and keeping the site working smoothly.

As stated above, our cookies expire no more than 30 days after they are set. Visiting the site again may restart that window. You never have to wait for expiry, though — clearing cookies in your browser removes them straight away.

Do I have to accept cookies to buy something? You need the strictly necessary shopping cart cookies for checkout to work, because they are what remembers your basket between pages. You do not need to accept advertising or remarketing cookies to make a purchase.

How do I manage cookie preferences after I have already accepted? Use the “Manage Cookies” link in the footer to change your choices at any time, or clear cookies in your browser using the instructions on this page. Both work, and neither is permanent — you can change your mind as often as you like.

Will clearing cookies delete my order history? No. Orders are stored in your account, not in a cookie. Clearing cookies empties your current basket and signs you out, but anything already purchased remains in your account when you sign back in.

Does this cookie policy apply to the sites you link to? No. Once you follow a link to another company’s website, that site’s own cookie policy governs what it stores. We have no control over third-party sites and are not responsible for their practices.

Who do I contact with a question about cookies? Call 561-994-3330 or email [email protected] and ask for the privacy contact. The details are also listed at the foot of this page.

Cookies set by features we embed

Some parts of this website are provided by third parties and are delivered inside our pages — a map showing the showroom location, an embedded review feed, a chat widget, an accessibility toolbar. Where those features are present they may set their own cookies under this Cookie Policy, in the same way that the advertising cookies described above are set by Google and Facebook rather than by us.

Those cookies are governed by the provider’s own policy as well as this one. We choose providers on the basis that their cookies are set in line with this Cookie Policy and applicable law, but we do not control what a third party stores on your device, and clearing our cookies will not always clear theirs.

If you would rather not load embedded features at all, browser settings and privacy extensions can block third-party content before it runs. Doing so may leave blank space where a map or a review feed would otherwise appear, which is a display side effect rather than a fault with the page.

Updates to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. Any changes will be posted on this page with a new “Last Updated” date. Our privacy and compliance team reviews this policy regularly to ensure best practices are followed.
